    Senior River Restoration and Bio-Engineer

Timothy Charles (T.C.) Dinkins joined FlyWater in 2022 as a Senior River Restoration and Bio-Engineer, licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in numerous states. T.C. Brings 12 years of experience as an award winning and innovative Design Engineer, Project Manager, and Team Leader focused primarily on river centric projects. T.C brings enthusiasm, creativity, and an innate sense of understanding of physical and biological function to every project. His connection with natural ecosystems and riverine processes was borne at a very young age, as he comes from a family of accomplished and widely published biologists with expertise in freshwater fish and mollusks, land snails, marine and terrestrial invertebrates, and geology. Growing up in the southern Appalachian Mountains, he spent summers playing and exploring rivers and streams in his backyard and beyond. This immersion in woods, wetlands, and fluvial systems fostered a curiosity and immense respect of the natural systems we are all a part of and depend upon.

As a Restoration Design Engineer and Practitioner, T.C strives to be a student of nature by applying the principles of geomorphology and natural references as the foundation for design considerations. T.C. has completed Rosgen Courses Levels I-IV and applied these principles to real-world scenarios requiring geomorphic based understanding and designs. Over the last decade, he served as Team Lead on projects ranging from watershed master planning, geomorphic survey and assessments, hydraulic floodplain modeling, erosion hazard setbacks, dam removal feasibility and design, fish passage design, and holistic restoration design on natural channels ranging from headwaters to navigable rivers.

Over his career, T.C. has developed an advanced skillset in AutoCAD C3D, including customized design tools and workflows, 3-dimensional surface modeling and visualization, collection and analysis of geomorphic survey data, and design plan-set production. He has also developed a personalized library of technical analysis tools and spreadsheets used to evaluate geomorphic parameters, hydraulic and hydrologic calculations, spatial analyses, and other data-driven assessments. T.C. has presented both virtually and in-person at Colorado and National Level Conferences on many of his projects and excels at client facing interactions.
