MEET AMY

  • Amy Scherman

    Project Manager and Aquatic Biologist

Amy is an aquatic biologist who joined the FlyWater team in 2017. A Colorado native, Amy grew up spending time in the mountains and developing her passion for the natural world. Since graduating from Colorado State University (2011) with a degree in Biology, her professional experience has spanned from private consulting to state and federal agencies. While remaining specialized in stream ecology, entomology, and fishery biology, Amy has spent significant time in a variety of rivers throughout the state. Amy’s experience also includes several years as a fly-fishing guide along Colorado’s Front Range.

At FlyWater, Amy leads the company's marketing efforts, as well as assisting managers throughout project timelines from initial site assessments, design, permitting, and final construction. She leads FlyWater’s efforts in fishery/aquatic insect assessment, fish swimming performance, fish passage, and coordinates stocking efforts. Her technical writing skills and scientific background add invaluable layers to FlyWater’s assessment and design reports. When needed, Amy is a very capable support equipment operator and assists in river construction.

With her background in biology and genuine love of rivers and their inhabitants, Amy brings an ecologically holistic perspective to the team when it comes to both design and construction. Amy enjoys translating the desires of clients into finished products that are improved both ecologically and recreationally. In her free time, Amy enjoys exploring new water with her family, fishing, floating, and being outside.
